  Anaesthesia

The Association of Dental Anaesthetists (ADA) Consisting of both Anaesthetists and Dentists the Association aims to further the art and science of anaesthesia and sedation for dentistry and to provide a forum for discussion. As of November 2004 the ADA became a Specialist Society of the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland. There is information about meetings, online copies of newletters and much more.

Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD) is a dental charity dedicated to the advancement of knowledge in pain and anxiety control for dentistry. The site contains sections on the history and development of the society, contact addresses and related links, and information on courses for dentists and nurses. Publications and information on the SAAD evaluation programme can be downloaded. Information on SAAD prizes are provided.

Aesthetic Dentistry

Aesthetic Dentistry and Professional Testing ADAPT, its achievements, membership (both UK and Worldwide) are listed. The professional testing section describes the products that have been evaluated and lists the manufacturers and universities ADAPT has worked with. Recent publications, the Aesthetic Year Course and conference are all described.

Conservative

British Association of Teachers of Conservative Dentistry The BATCD site outlines the association's objects, membership, council and meetings are described along with information on prizes.

Computer Assisted Learning

British Society for Computer Assisted Learning in Dentistry The SETD site describes the society's aims, activities and objectives with information about its journal, the annual prize, membership and constitution. There is a discussion board.

Dental Technology

British Institute of Dental and Surgical Technologists BIDST has been established for 60 years and exists to provide a vehicle for the continuing education of technicians within the spheres of dental and surgical technology.

Disability and Oral Health (Special Care Dentistry)

British Society for Disability and Oral Health The BSDH site includes sections on the objectives and activities of the Society. Information on membership and the Society's annual prize is given. Abstracts from meetings and member's papers are provided. An event and meeting calendar is supplied.

International Association for Disability and Oral Health (Formerly the International Association of Dentistry for the Handicapped and still known as the IADH). There is information about the association, links to the online International Journal of Disability and Oral Health (IJDH), and newsletters. The Dr. Harold Diner Atlas of Oral Conditions in People with Disabilities is also included.

Special Care Dentistry Association. SCD's mission is to promote the oral health of special needs patients. The web site has links to the "Special Care in Dentistry" journal of the American Association of Hospital Dentists, The Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities, and the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry.  It is the only journal published in North America devoted to improving oral health for people with special needs.

Endodontics

British Endodontic Society The BES site has is information about the Society's aims, membership and constitution. Grants for Research Workers, the annual prize for dental vocational trainees in the United Kingdom and the Student Elective Award are described.

Fluoridation

British Fluoridation Society The BFS site outlines its aims and provides membership information. The activities section has a range articles on fluoridation including press releases, parliamentary reports and health reports from the society.

Homoeopathy

British Homoeopathic Dental Association The BHDA site is divided into member and public sections. The public section has an introduction to the use of Homoeopathy in dentistry and a directory of BHDA members. The members section has news, events and membership information about the society. There is a member discussion forum.

Implantology

Association of Dental Implantology UK The ADI site provides information (including a FAQ section) about implants for patients and a section on the association aims. A searchable membership database, an events listing and links to dental implant suppliers are also included. A link to "Dental Implant Summaries" online journal is included.

Foundation for Excellence In Dental Implantology FEDI's mission is "To create and maintain the self confidence of dentists to integrate implant dentistry into their practice environment." The site contains information on study groups, courses and has several case studies. There is a membership directory by UK region and information on the aims of the foundation.

Lasers

International Society for Lasers in Dentistry The ISLD site provides news and meeting reports from its country representatives, who are also listed. Membership meetings and the executive committee composition is detailed. Links to Laser Societies and Laser Companies are provided.

Occlusal

British Society of Occlusal Studies The British Society of Occlusal Studies (BSOS) headache and facial pain site provides information on Occlusion problems and has a number of case studies. There is searchable database of member dentists. The site aims to Educate patients so that they better understand their pain problem, Explain how their problems can be treated, Inform patients about the activities within BSOS, Introduce patients to appropriate self referral or professionally referred UK points of contact and Provide support and practical help for patients

Oral and Maxillofacial

British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons The BAOMS site gives provides information on the Society's objectives, membership and council. There is a section containing information on some interesting articles that appear in the various journals, a Cleft Group section and an extensive UK hospital directory, and BAOMS Medical Student pages.

European Association for Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery The EACMFS site gives membership information and recommendations for education and training. The Membership of the Council, Prizes and Awards,
Travelling Scholarships and the Leibinger Prize and Journal are described, along with the newsletter.

International Association of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology The IADMFR site describes the society's aims, composition, events and provides membership information. Previous and future Congresses are described. There is a discussion board and the ORADLIST forum which allows dentists worldwide to post radiographs of interesting cases.

Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists & Technologists The IMPT site contains information on conferences, training courses and book reviews. There is a members section and a jobs area. The patients section has information to help find a hospital offering maxillofacial services. There is an education section with useful information on CPD.

Oral Medicine

British Society for Oral Medicine The BSOM seeks to promote the practice and development of clinical oral medicine within the UK and Ireland. The society's membership principally comprises clinical specialists and trainees in oral medicine.

Orthodontics

British Orthodontic Society The BOS site contains information about the society, the journal and careers. There is a searchable database of orthodontic courses by university or college. There is a members area and sections of interest to schools and children. The site aims to answer the most frequently asked questions about orthodontics and provides some background information about what to expect when patients visit an orthodontist. The site includes a section for The Orthodontic National Group for Dental Nurses and The Orthodontic Technicians Association (OTA) - see below for OTA website.

Orthodontic Society of Ireland This site has a search facility to find a member of Orthodontic Society by County, some information on orthodontics and a meeting calendar. There are orthodontic society, academic and company links, with many more orthodontic links to sites around the world.

The Orthodontic Technicians Association - UK (OTA) There are sections on the aims of the association, the benefits of membership, news extracts, a membership list, technical tips, education and training news, a technical forum and orthodontic technician vacancies.

The Orthodontic National Group (ONG) was formed in 1994 as a specialist group for Dental Nurses throughout the United Kingdom and Eire. The Group is an affiliated organisation of the British Orthodontic Society. The site has an announcement board, list of study days, information on the Certificate of Orthodontic Nursing and much more.

Osteo

The Bone and Tooth Society The aims of the society are described and meeting calendar provided along with membership information. There is also a section on Bone Disease.

Paediatrics

British Society of Paediatric Dentistry The BSPD home page outlines society's aims and provides addresses for further information about the Society and Membership. There are sections on branch activities and meetings.

Periodontology

British Society of Periodontology The BSP site outlines the Society's aims and membership criteria. There are sections on news, events, meetings, courses, regional programmes and for patients, a section on periodontal disease and treatment information.

Irish Society of Periodontology The ISP site acts as a source of information for the general public on the roles of the periodonologist in dental health and as a centralised source of information, on relevant subjects, for members. The society's officers, members and relevant events are listed. There is a section on periodontal disease and treatment for patients.

European Federation of Periodontology The EFP site provides information about the Federation's history, composition and lists its member societies. There are online newsletters and information about the 'Journal of Clinical Periodontology.' Other sections include links to other periodontal resources on the internet, grant and prize information and annual conference details.

American Academy of Periodontology The AAP site outlines its aims, resources and products and includes the online 'Journal of Periodontology.' Online abstracts are available. The AAP publishes online papers dealing with the etiology, pathogenesis or treatment of periodontal diseases on the site. Details on meetings, conferences and workshops are available.

Prosthetics

British Society for the Study of Prosthetic Dentistry On the BSSPD site there are sections about the society's membership, conference and publications. Council information is given along with meeting information.

European Prosthodontic Association The EPA site provides information about the association and its formation with email addresses of national representatives. There is annual conference information and details of prizes and awards.

Restorative

Association of Consultants and Specialists in Restorative Dentistry The ACSRD site has information on the constitution of the association. The members resources section includes an online newsletter, meeting details and information on the regional groups. Education and training of the restorative dental consultant and specialist, training, research, quality issues and the provision of service is covered.

British Society for Restorative Dentistry The BSRD site has sections on the Constitution, Bye-laws, and Council Members. There are articles on" Guidelines for Crown and Bridgework", and "A Strategy For Planning Restorative Dental Care" and information on the Society's Research Prize.

Specialist Registrars in Restorative Dentistry Group The SRRDG Group's pages have an introductory section with information on the constitution, the committee, membership. Conference and contact information is also given.
